AMID PANDEMIC: Bong Go urges barangay officials to promptly respond to constituents’ needs; sends aid to Malolos City village

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go distributed aid to over 200 beneficiaries in General Isidro Torres Memorial Elementary School, Malolos City, Bulacan on October 9, 2020.

Through his team, Go distributed meals, food packs, masks and face shields to the residents in response to their appeals for additional assistance from the government amid the adverse effects of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak on their lives.

Go said through a video call.

Go’s team also provided bicycles to some beneficiaries to help them travel to work while public transportation is still limited. Electronic tablets were also provided to students to help them cope with blended learning as classes recently started last October 5.

As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to threaten the lives of many Filipinos, Go assured the residents that once the vaccine for the disease becomes available, the poor and the vulnerable will get access and will be prioritized.

Meanwhile, upon Go’s initiative, representatives of the Department of Social Welfare and Development joined the aid distribution to provide additional government assistance to the residents. The DSWD also distributed food packs to those who have already qualified for the Social Amelioration Program.

Go also advised the general public to continue to follow health protocols imposed by the government to control the spread of COVID-19 in the country. He urged local officials to take care of their constituents and respond to their needs.

The Senator was instrumental in the passage of the bill on the postponement of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections to October 2022. This gives local officials more time to work and accomplish programs.
